whims & woes

Children's book for ages 10 to 101, 2012

Poet & author for a book of poetry for children from 10 to 101. Worked in collaboration with an illustration artist from Brooklyn to Shanghai. “whims & woes” sold in independent bookstores and boutique shops in Brooklyn.

This book is about Saro, who found the world’s largest mushroom. She wanted to bring it home to show her brother and parents. As she was intensely digging she saw a little piece twine sticking out from the dirt. She tugged at it without realizing that the mushroom she had discovered was a Guardian of this twine. For some reason, he was revealing to her the end of a stitch that held her world together. The twine unravelled so quickly that she could do nothing but hold dearly onto the end of it. It was unwinding and leading her far far away. She finally landed on another planet called Earth. Saro, carrying the brave spirit of her people, set forth to learn the ways of this new place.

Her experiences are shared through a series of poems.
