Hello, My Friend
Exhibition
4.15.2017 to 4.23.2017
Taipei, Taiwan
This is a collaboration project with the illustrator & artist Fukuda Sakae where I wrote the poetry and interweaved a story for a gallery exhibition.
In this series we travel in an out of the past and present. Images and voices of a ourselves float through our minds. These are from the landscapes of our childhood memories. Others are from our adult state of mind, triggered by nostalgia.
As children we see much more and know much more than we remember. The same thoughts that hound us as adults today are often no different than the ones we had as children. Except, when “all grown up” the poignancy of being lost and alone may be more susceptible to suspicion and false realities we place upon ourselves. We yearn, and in chagrin, secretly wish to find that spark and flicker again. It is a magical state, where we believe in a world which holds more and the way to our dreams are wide open.
We wonder how our imaginary friend is doing? Is it possible he or she still exists and will come back to give us strength and courage?
